Hurricane Maria

My wife, Cindy, has an 83 year old father and 51 year old mentally handicapped sister that live in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Cabo Rojo is in the southwestern tip of the island where neither FEMA nor the Red Cross has been seen there.  Her father called her yesterday from a location where there is a surviving cell tower about 4 miles away from his house. In his neighborhood, there was no flooding and his house is intact, but there is no water, no power, and no cell service. He was in line for 90 min yesterday to get gasoline for the car and generator. They are physically fine, but emotionally and mentally distressed.

Cindy got a flight to go there with a family friend that has her father and siblings in the next city of Mayaguez. October 10th and needs help with donations to pay for her flight and supplies her father requested. Here is a list of things they need:

  1. Power inverter – min 2000 watt

  1. Water filtration for clear to turbid water and filters bacteria and viruses.

  1. Chain saw that has not been used because you can’t ship something that has had gasoline in it. He has gone to Sam’s, Home Depot, K-Mart, Sears and Walmart and they are sold out.

  1. Solar charger with multiple plugs for phones and appliances.

  1. Deodorizer for septic tank/toilets since there is no running water and they are using rain water as they can get it.

  1. Disposable disinfectant wipes.

  1. Disposable personal hygiene wipes.

  1. Disposable cleaning wipes.

  1. Room deodorizer – Bad Air Sponge collects odors without emitting a scent as we are all sensitive to scents.

  1. Crank radio

  1. Bug spray

  1. Anything else you can think of someone would need to survive in the “wilderness” without power and running water and to maintain sanitary conditions to avoid illness.

I'll be at the club meeting on Tuesday if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
