Trip Description: Rating: Easy. Limit: 12 vehicles
This event is intended to improve skills on an off highway trip. We'll cover what things to bring, driving skills, leading a trip, spotting, and recovery, including winching.
There will be a Best Equipped Vehicle contest with prizes being given out for the best prepared vehicle/team.
The day will begin with an orientation at the Azusa Canyon staging lot, then move on to the training area.
San Gabriel Canyon OHV Area offers up to 150 acres of diverse off-road opportunities. Water crossings, rocks, dirt roads and sand hills are some of the seasonally challenging experiences you will find. The assortment of physical terrain is unmatched anywhere in this area.
Optional exploring and/or obstacles to attempt will be available after training.
Restrooms, tables and parking provided.
Time & Place to Meet: Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.
Meet at 10am at the Azusa Canyon OHV. Fee: $8 per vehicle. There's a $5 charge for trailers.
I am coming from Orange county so those attending from San Diego or other areas can organize a caravan. We can meet at 830am off Alicia Pkwy / 5 Fwy at the America's Tire/Target parking lot.
Directions: Southern California, between the 605 fwy and 57 fwy north of the 210 in the San Gabriel Valley. Take Azusa ave. north towards the mountains, up to the Morris reservoir or farther past the San Gabriel reservoir to the OHV area.

What to bring: Picnic lunch, extra water, munchies, sunscreen, hat, CB/HAM radio with external antenna. Any recovery and emergency gear.
Saturday camping is optional for this trip. Please let me know if you’re interested in camping so that we can coordinate with other members to camp at Coldbrook campground, $12 per campsite (2 vehicles – 8 people max.) Bring water – none at campground.
