Panamint Run: Pleasant Canyon / South Park

October 26th 2013

Description

Meet at Norco 6th Street SAT 6:30 AM & caravan  from there

I-15 N to 395 N Breakfast at Kramer Junction "Roadhouse"

Probably will not  need to get gas at Ridgecrest before heading to Trona & Ballart (Will confirm gas "last stop" before we leave.

Called the T-STop (vallero) gas station in Trona (760-372-4761). They expect to have gas at the time of the run. Also the (old) Texaco has reopened - now a Shell station..

After Ballarat ghost town (park tow vehicles and buy something from store), we will proceed up Pleasant Canyon, Cross over to Middle Park, then over to the top of South Park.

Will camp near the old airstrip.

This will be a  dry camp inside the Death Valley Park boundary-- so NO campfire is permitted.

Bring all your own grub. Morton's is closed. Oh, and you'll need to bring your own water as well.

Return along the ridge above stripped butte and down from the top of Pleasant Canyon.

We'll  do a memorable side trip at the World Beater Mine (shelf road.) with an amazing view of Panamint Valley.

If Time and interest - we may do a side trip to Jail Canyon on the way out.
