Description
I am taking my nephew out for his first Jeep experience. The plan is to do Cleghorn in the morning and Sugarpine Mountain Trail(E) in the afternoon. I will be keeping it mild unless it is a small adventurous group and my nephew is okay with it. If there is snow we will avoid any steep slippery climbs.
Cleghorn is an easy trail and a difficult trail that keeps crossing with pretty good views of what is ahead. Most of the obstacles are steep climbs. Sugarpine Mountain is a fire road with nice views of Silverwood Lake then San Bernardino and ends at Palm Road in the Verdemont Community about 10 miles (via I-215N and I-15N) from the beginning of the trek.
We will leave the Norco Chevron station (6th St. exit off the 15N) at 0800. Gassing up there should provide enough for the whole trip. There is a McDonalds next door and a Jack in the Box across the street, if anyone is interested.
We should be at the trail head by 0900, if anyone wants to meet there.
