Hill & Dale

March 25th 2016

Description

Hill and Dale is a collection of rough shelf roads, mines, and sand dunes. This run is to the Dale Mining district East of Twentynine Palms. It will be dry camping. There will be several shelf roads with moderate pucker factors. Not dangerous but not for the faint of heart. There will be mines to explore. You may enter the mines at your own risk and don't forget a hard hat, flash light, and gloves. We'll also run some sand dunes and drive down into an open pit iron mine.

This will be dry camping. Bring everything including firewood.  We'll camp in our usual spot on Iron Age Road.  Signs will be put at pavement and beyond directiong you to camp.

We'll be camping just off highway 62 on Iron Age Road. Motor homes are not recommended on Iron Age Road due to soft sand. Motorhomes have made it to camp before only to be towed out by strapping up two jeeps to help. Tow vehicles sometimes drop thier Jeep before the soft sand and drive both vehicles the last 50 yards to camp.

Your last gas is in Twentynine Palms. We'll start the Saturday run at 8:30 AM.

I must insist that you have at least a rear locker for this run.
