Description
You may need extra gas. The route is 243 miles from last gas in Olancha back to Olancha.
This run is back by popular demand. We will stop for breakfast at Kramer Junction and drop tow vehicles at Olancha on highway 395. Olancha is last gas. From Olancha we will take highway 190 and enter Death Valley by way of the South Pass road. Friday’s camp is at Saline Valley Hot Springs. There are vault toilets but no other facilities or services at Saline Hot Springs. Bring a bathing suit or not for the hot springs.
Saturday we’ll head North thru Steele Pass, a slow rocky road, past Eureka Sand Dunes National Landmark and on to Crankshaft Crossing to place a spare crankshaft on the pile. From there we go to Ubehebe Crater, then to Teakettle Junction to place a teakettle alongside the others. At the end of the day we will be at the Race Track to see with sliding rocks and camp at Lippencott Mine. There are a few rock crawls availble at the Lippencott Mine if you're not too tired from the day's run.
On Sunday it’s down Lippencott Grade (some pucker factor) back to Saline Valley, out South Pass, and home.
Pleae call me if you are signing up as a guest. (949) 275-7602. The club will require you to sign a Liability Release. I also need to know your off road experience level and what you are driving. I would also invite you to attend the April 5, 2016 meeting at Marie Callender's in San Juan Capistrno at 7:30 PM so we all can get to know you.
