Description
This is a one day easy trip any 4 wheel drive can make. This is an anthropological trip more than an off road adventure.
All of the adventure will be in the Dos Cabezas abandoned train station area of the Southern end of Anza Borrego State Park. We’ll do several hikes.
Our first hike is out about ¾ mile to a cave at grade level with pictographs and along the way there’s at an enormous yoni rock sculpture. This site is called Piedras Grande. Bring a lunch.
We'll do some Jeepin' thru Mark Piepkorn Slot canyon and the drop off..
If time allows, we’ll explore two of other petroglyphs in the area.
Lastly will be a very short hike to an Indian payer wheel (about 10 feet in diameter).
To get there we’ll find our way East on highway 8 to the town of Ocotillo, get gas if needed, and turn on to S-2 heading North. We’ll drop tow vehicles where the trail head meets pavement at Mortero Wash.
