Description
This is an introductory trip for two first time off roaders who have made a special request. This will be easy trails for stock 4x4s, no desert pin striping, and a one day trip. We will use the two main routes to get to and from central Anza Borrego State park. Highway 76 through the Lake Henshaw area gets us there and highway 78 through Julian gets us home.
I’ll open it up to one or two regular club members in this midweek trip upon request. I intend to keep the group small so we can cover a lot of ground. Call me if interested.
You'll see Montezuma Grade, Galleta Meadows, Fonts Point, the 17 Palms Mail box, the Pumpkin Patch, Military Wash, Blow Sand Canyon, Goat trail, and the Mine Wash morteros. Bring a lunch and a lawn/camp chair. We’ll eat lunch on the trail.
2 meter handheld radios will be provided to those without one.
Meet at Carl's Jr at Christianitos I-5 off ramp in San Clemente at 6:30 AM with enough gas to take you at least 150 miles. Be there early if you want food, coffee, etc. We'll stop for gas (very cheap) at LA Jolla Indian Reservation on highway 76 on our way to Borrego springs.
